In 1983, the Portland Development Commission selected a plan to build a mid-sized village of town houses, a broad esplanade, 200-slip marina and retail on the last remaining parcel of downtown waterfront property. The result was called RiverPlace, a community of 565 moderately priced rental and market-rate housing units on 8 acres of land.
The 180 RiverPlace condominiums are situated at the north end of the development. They are located directly behind and over a 500-foot stretch of retail accessed by the esplanade. Amenities include secured entries and parking, cable TV, terraces and a park-like common area. Many units have a fireplace and wonderful views of the river.
The RiverPlace community features a hotel, health club, day spa, restaurants and direct access to the riverfront. It is near the Portland streetcar line, providing access to the South Waterfront, downtown, Pearl District and NW 23rd Avenue.
